Anthropology
Anthropology teaches students about the cultural variations that exist in quite fundamental aspects of everyday life, while also teaching students to understand how the local is shaped by the movements and connections that link different societies. The Department trains students in research techniques, providing them with strong theoretical tools and field based use of participant observation, both of which are combined in the writing of ethnography. Macquarie’s Anthropology Academics have research expertise in a wide range of geographical areas, including:
- Indigenous Australia
- South, East, and Southeast Asia
- Pacific
- the Middle East
- South America
- Europe
