Asian Languages

Students of Asian Languages develop proficiency in a language (reading, writing and communication skills) and gain an understanding of the society and culture of the countries where it is spoken. Introductory language units do not require any prior knowledge of the language.

The following languages are offered at Macquarie:

  • Chinese
  • Japanese
Students are encouraged to participate in short residential and/or semester-long in-country units. Language studies can be pursued in conjunction with many other areas of study, such as economics and financial studies, international relations, law, media and education.
