Description of Internship Opportunity

In 2017 a full audit of the Museum of Ancient Culture’s collection will be undertaken; At the same time a teaching collection within the Department of Psychology - the "Test Library" - will be transitioning to a new collection management database.

This internship opportunity aims to provide extensive collection based information management experience in two very different types of collections.

Currently Friday is the only day available for supervision in the museum setting, the second day in the library setting can be negotiated.

Due to time and space constraints, there are limited spaces available for this internship in each semester in 2017.

The first day of the placement will be a compulsory information session focused on the tasks that will be undertaken during the internships. Subjects covered in this session will include accessioning and cataloguing, condition reporting, object handling and movement, information retrieval, risk management, the audit project and its management.
