Description of Internship Opportunity

Zebra Collective is a start up company and offers real world hands on experience in this new sector of the media industry. Interns will NOT be buying coffee or emptying the trash while someone else does the real work. They will be doing the real work. Zebra Collective creates, produces and distributes 8 minutes of new content every week to its subscribers.

Specific duties are dependent on the applicants' skillset and specific days of availability, however Media Interns in 2015 will be developing, writing, shooting and editing a promotional video for the company, as well as acting as assisting in production for regular monthly film shoots - (camera op/sound op) and editing raw footage to create finished work. The company is also looking to create a 12 second vanity card - which would require an intern willing to acquire motion graphics experience. Additional projects slated for shooting in 2015 include: a music video clip and a rebranding video for a third party client, and shooting and editing a short documentary on the creation of an original music score from concept - composition through to execution - including the recording of a 36 piece orchestra.

Other available work areas (based on skills of applicant) include: focused topic research for future content, identifying and researching suitable potential subjects for interview, contacting potential subjects to arrange for interviews, scriptwriting, management of content in online database.

Any particular fields of study or skills?

Applicants with interest and some experience in camera operation and video editing are preferred. Successful applicants who wish to focus on editing will be using Adobe CS6 - but some experience on any editing software will suffice. Applicants with some experience in motion graphics software (After Effects etc) will be channeled into the development of specific motion graphics content. Applicants with no experience in motion graphics wishing to gain experience in motion graphics should consider applying.

All applicants should possess initiative, perseverance, a passion for the visual realm, creativity, the ability to work without direct supervision, the ability to follow through on a project and a pioneering sensibility.
