About speaker

Pablo Navarrete is a British-Chilean journalist and documentary filmmaker. He is the founder and editor of www.alborada.net, a website covering Latin America related issues such as politics, media and culture. His first feature-length documentary 'Inside the Revolution: A Journey Into the Heart of Venezuela' was released in August 2009 by Alborada Films. His second documentary was 'The Colombia Connection' (2012/director's cut 2015) while he recently produced the documentary 'Chile's Student Uprising' (2014). A researcher for John Pilger's documentary 'The War on Democracy' (2007), he is currently a PhD student at Bradford University in the UK. He is a correspondent for the Latin America Bureau (LAB) and a former Latin America editor for Red Pepper magazine (2005-2013). He has spoken about and covered contemporary Latin American political issues for various media outlets, including the 'BBC', 'Al Jazeera English', 'HuffPost Live' 'Russia Today', 'The Guardian', 'The New Statesman', 'Counterpunch' and 'Open Democracy'.
