Professor Lumby joins National Museum of Australia Council

Professor Catharine Lumby of the Department of Media, Music, Communication and Cultural Studies has been appointed to a three-year term on the council of the National Museum of Australia.
The council, which currently consists of Mr Daniel Gilbert AM (Chair), Dr Mathew Trinca (Acting Director of the Museum), and 8 appointed members, is responsible for the overall performance of the organisation, including setting the strategic direction and establishing goals for management.
A museum of social history, the National Museum of Australia focuses its exhibition, collections and research on three interrelated themes: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture; Australia's history and society; and the interaction of people with the environment.
